Municator
Posted by Charbax on March 12th, 2006
This is an awesome product! It is a 146$ Linux computer (Thinix OS) from China that does all the basic things most people need, like browsing (firefox), emailing (thunderbird), instant messaging (gaim), skype, word processing (Red Office), audio/video playback (mplayer), e-learning, all through a very user-friendly very basic interface and is software upgradable. It has got 40GB, a 400mhz/800mhz Godson 2C processor, 256mb ram, 4 usb2 ports, VGA-output, ps2 input, tv-output and weigths something like 400 grams. Their slogan is “Say no to Wintel”.

First of all, as the Chief Knowledge Officer (CKO) of Yellowsheepriver Municator Inc., I would like to express my appreciation for your report of the Municator.
However, I would like to clarify some significant points which are as follows:
1)The product, the Municator, runs on a CPU called
the Godson 2C 400/800 which is made in China.
The Municator’s CPU is NOT a VIA product.
2)The Municator retails at the fixed price of one
hundred and twenty-three (123) Euro only.
3)The Municator runs on the Thinix Operating
System – an operating system that is developed
by YellowSheepRiver Inc. itself.
4)The office suite that the Municator offers is
called “Red Office”, an office suite developed
by a Chinese company. Red Office is 99 percent
compatible with Microsoft Office.
Please make the necessary revisions at your earliest convenience at your blog site and please insert the following:
“All interested parties are welcomed to test the
Municator at booth D15 in Hall 19 dueing CeBIT Fair.
More information about the Municator can be found
at http://www.yellowsheepriver.org”
We are looking out for the above changes and insertion at your blog site.
We look forward to receiving an email from you acknowledging receipt of this email.
With thanks and regards!

The Municator…
The small portable computer is nothing new, just look at the Mac Mini. But how about one for just 123 Euros (~$150USD)? You can check out the specs over at the Municator\’s site.
But how can they sell it for around 150$ USD, you ask? My guess …

Thats true, its nothing new!
