Universal Microelectronics Co. Ltd. is showing this awesome looking video phone project based on a powerful ARM Cortex A8 processor to integrate the Google Android OS into a 10.1″ capacitative touchscreen product! It has HDMI output, capacitative touchscreen (Android touchscreen dirvers are still under construction), ethernet plug, USB host and more features. Built-in dect phone, webcam. For about $260 price for carriers or resellers to buy this in bulk. They are also making a 4.8″ 800×480 version with a built-in mini-HDMI output, MicroSD slot and USB-host as well for about $200!
Amazing multi-charger invention. This little device charges any Lithium Ion battery, any sizes, any voltage, any polarity. It also uses any Lithium Ion battery to charge any mobile phone through cell phone charger adapter cables or through USB charging adapters. It even packs in some more surprise features. It’s a small USB dongle with a battery and a processor so you can connect another USB dongle and it automatically transfers files to that other usb dongle. Thus usb dongle into other usb dongle and everybody got their files!
Here is a pretty good looking Android smartphone by Samsung, this is Samsung’s first Android product. It comes with a good looking 3.2″ AMOLED touchscreen. Although the screen I think is too small for on-screen keyboard to be usable enough. I get confused as well for how to navigate on this Smartphone, I cannot find the Home button, but it’s also that I haven’t used Android much yet.
It’s Windows CE on ARM11, don’t expect it to be as responsive as would be an Android tablet on an ARM Cortex A8 processor. Though it’s definitely really cool that Toshiba has decided to invest in R&D in this field. And given the huge interest from the press, it is a good move, and Toshiba could turn out to be one of those to provide good embedded products to the mass market.
Sony are releasing some new pretty cool touchscreen based E-Ink readers. Here I show you the interface a bit. It seems to work quite alright. All that’s needed now is that they release an unlocked HSDPA and WiFi version runing something like Google Android to add features and basic but optimized Internet text content reading features.
It’s going to be sold for 1500€ or more. They are keeping the processor secret at the moment. It’s probably currently using a basic Intel Atom but they would probably prefer to use an upcoming more expensive perhaps slightly less power consuming Intel Penrym or something like that processor.
Here’s a Sony alternative to the Flip camera craze. Unlike the flip, this camera actually flips so that you can also film yourself while you can look at the LCD if your makeup is okay. It records in 1440×1080 at around 6mbit/s according to my calculations.
